Roadies When I look at the lines on the road, what strikes me is their sharpness — the way they guide your eye ahead. Juxtaposed against the natural landscape, they lie on the road as if in a painting. I also like the sense of multiple perspectives created by the inside and outside of the car.

When I initially painted this series about being on the road, I imagined each piece like a snapshot, capturing a sense of movement through time as well as space. Only later did I notice that I painted the series as my youngest children, twins, went off to college in different directions.
